MEET NANCY

Democrat for Pennsylvania's 11th District.

A nurse is always good to have close by.

Someone who, at any moment, will step up to stop the bleeding and apply all their education to provide immediate care.

Dr. Nancy Mannion, RN is a former emergency nurse running for Pennsylvania’s 11th Congressional District, which includes Lancaster and southern York Counties.

With over 40 years of experience as a registered nurse, she has demonstrated decisive action, careful decision-making, and tenacity during a patient's most challenging moments.

Nancy cannot be silent while the Republican-controlled U.S. House and Senate compromise the integrity of our democracy.

Her opponent, Lloyd Smucker, has a voting record that aligns with billionaires, not the people of his district, which shows his priorities are out of sync with the people he’s been elected to serve.

REAL CARE, REAL CHANGE

Nancy Mannion realized early on that nursing was her calling. She grew up in a family of nurses—her great-aunts, aunts, and cousins were all part of the profession. Inspired by them, she decided to follow in their footsteps.

Raised in northwest Connecticut, she had a father who was a factory manager and a mother who worked as a receptionist in a local doctor's office. From a young age, Nancy watched her father answer the community’s call for volunteers; that was her first encounter with servant leadership. His legacy now serves as her platform and commitment to the community.

Nancy began her nursing education at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT. Shortly after, she moved to the Boston area, where numerous hospitals provided ample opportunities for learning and career growth. In 1991, Nancy settled in Lancaster County, attracted by its natural beauty and quality of life.

Nancy advanced into nursing leadership roles at Pinnacle Health Hospitals in Harrisburg, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Nancy launched her global leadership development business in Lancaster, traveling worldwide to share her extensive knowledge and expertise in nursing and healthcare operations. Nancy’s volunteer work includes many community organizations, and she led medical humanitarian teams to Bolivia, Kenya, and Nepal.

Eager to deepen her knowledge, Nancy pursued further education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing Administration, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice.

Nancy’s exceptional patient care and strategic leadership earned her accolades from peers, supervisors, and national nursing associations. She was elected President of the Emergency Nurses Association, representing this specialty worldwide. She served as Chair of the Nurses on Boards Coalition, which aims to improve community health through nurses’ service on boards. She became a Fellow in the Academy of Emergency Nursing in 2009 and the American Academy of Nursing in 2025.

She draws inspiration from the late Fred Rogers of "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood," who based his life in part on the principle of Tikkun Olam, meaning “repairer of the world.”

No matter what our particular job, especially in our world today, we all are called to be tikkun olam, repairers of creation. Thank you for whatever you do, wherever you are, to bring joy and life and hope and faith and pardon and love to your neighbor and to yourself.

Fred Rogers

As your Representative, Nancy will bring the qualities that framed her career as a nurse to Washington DC.

She is visible in the district, listening and ready to act decisively for its residents because politics transcends party lines when people are in need. She is deeply concerned about the people of PA-11.
