Affordability
Nancy wants to make life easier and more affordable for people in PA-11. She’ll fight to raise the federal minimum wage so folks can afford the basics—like rent and groceries. Nancy will work to make sure you can get healthcare that doesn’t come with huge medical bills or sky-high prescription costs. Nancy also believes that getting rid of the Trump tariffs will help bring down the cost of groceries and other everyday goods.
Lloyd Smucker voted against helping people get affordable health insurance, leaving thousands in PA-11 without coverage. He supports the war in Iran, which is making fuel prices go up—and that means it costs more to get to work, school, or even buy groceries.
Nancy will work hard for PA-11 families, expanding tax credits for children to help make raising a family more affordable, building more affordable housing, and investing in education from preschool all the way through college.
Healthcare
As a registered nurse, Nancy follows the Code of Ethics for Nursing. The Code supports respecting patients’ right to make their own health care decisions, acting in patients’ best interests, doing no harm, providing fairness in care, and following through on her commitments.
She supports affordable healthcare for all and lower prescription medication costs and will work to reverse healthcare budget cuts to reduce insurance costs. Nancy will also work for healthcare coverage for all children, so they have a healthy start in life.
She believes reproductive decisions should be made only between the patient, their family, and a medical provider. No government should intrude in this decision. Nancy respects those who believe that abortion is wrong.
Nancy believes we need a strong public health system to reduce the spread of contagious diseases as well as advance research to cure diseases. She will work to restore funding for public health and medical research and will advocate for science-based, public health decision-making.
Education
Keeping students safe and healthy is Nancy’s top priority. She supports stronger gun laws and more mental health support in our schools. Plus, every student should get a healthy breakfast and lunch, no matter their family’s income. Children should also be able to learn in clean schools without things like lead, mold, or other dangerous hazards.
Nancy is not in favor of tax credits or voucher programs that push money toward private schools. She believes all students deserve great teachers. A national teaching credential would help make sure everyone in the classroom is up to par. Better pay and on-site support would also encourage more people to consider teaching as a possibility.
Nancy believes that federal and state governments should team up to make sure every child can get a good public education. The curriculum should match the skills in the job market and be routinely assessed so what’s taught fits the needs of the changing workforce. And every student should graduate knowing about civics so they can be active, informed citizens who help keep our democracy strong.
Immigration
Nancy supports strong borders. She believes we need processes that enable immigrants and visitors to enter the country legally and with dignity. Immigration violations are a civil offense and should be treated as such. ICE should be focused on those with serious criminal records. Funding for ICE should be tied to the agency following the rule of law and agents being properly identified.
Nancy supports a pathway to citizenship for groups such as “Dreamers” and asylum seekers and believes we need to expand our judicial resources to reduce the backlog of immigration cases in the courts.
She believes immigrants make many positive contributions to the economy, and Nancy will encourage Congress to expand legal worker visa categories.
Jobs, Taxes, and the Federal Budget
Nancy’s worried about the huge federal deficit, which has ballooned due to the fiscal irresponsibility of Republican priorities. She wants to tackle the deficit by taking a closer look at what we spend, and by closing tax loopholes that benefit wealthy people and big companies. Nancy’s plan includes rolling back the 2025 corporate tax rate drop. She also believes the tax code should help create jobs right here in America, instead of allowing corporations to dodge taxes overseas.
Nancy doesn’t want to see funding cuts for medical and scientific research or extra money thrown at ICE. She’s all for bringing back Affordable Care Act subsidies and expanding childcare tax credits so families can get a break.
Nancy thinks the IRS needs more funding, not less, so audits and taxpayer services actually work. She’d get rid of the tariffs President Trump put in place and swap them for targeted tariffs that protect American jobs.
Small Businesses
Nancy envisions a more supportive environment for small business growth and innovation. She will evaluate the tax code to make it easier and less costly for small businesses to comply with federal requirements. She supports expanding access to low-interest loans and grant programs that provide funding for startups and growing businesses.
Nancy believes investing in training and mentorship programs helps entrepreneurs develop necessary business skills. Enhancing support for broadband access, especially in underserved areas, would also enable more small businesses to thrive in a digital economy.
Voting Rights
Nancy supports every citizen's right to take part in fair and free elections. She advocates for voter ID requirements that are inclusive and believes that stricter rules are unnecessary.
Not everyone is able to vote conveniently in person on Election Day. Nancy believes in making voting easier by providing options such as early voting and mail-in voting.
Nancy calls for nationwide standards to ensure congressional representation matches citizen votes, and she stresses the need for transparency in campaign financing. Protecting voters from disinformation stemming from concentrated media ownership as well as foreign influence is a top priority.
