Why assume people will yell – unless you think they’re mad at you?
He hasn’t held an open in-person town hall in over a decade. (source) During the 2025 government shutdown, Smucker’s PA-11 “town hall” was a phone call: register online, submit a question, hope the staff chooses it.
That’s not openness. It’s message control.
That’s been PA-11’s version of accountability for a decade.
People weren’t yelling. They were asking:
- When paychecks, disaster aid, and loans would arrive.
- Whether VA visits, WIC, SNAP, and school meals would be disrupted.
- How Washington’s choices were hitting PA-11 families.
Those are accountability questions. Dodging them is dodging the job.
If you asked me whether a shutdown would hit your paycheck, farm, benefits, or kid’s lunch, I’d say:
Yes. Then I’d ask what’s keeping you up at night, and we’d start there. That’s listening: not a form, not a screened call – a conversation.
When elected, I’ll hold open town halls across PA-11 and answer your questions – even when the answer is hard. That’s the job.
A representative who hides from constituents isn’t doing the job. PA-11 has lived with that for a decade. In 2026, we can change it.
